CPLDICY – Zorro I2C Controller

CHF 99.00

Keep an eye on the temperatures and voltages inside your Amiga and find the right balance between fan noise and cooling. The CPLDICY is an I2C controller on a Zorro II card for the Commodore Amiga 2000, 3000 and 4000, with an optional fan controller and temperature/voltage monitor, and it is software-compatible with M. Boehmer’s ICY board.

Description

The CPLDICY is an I2C controller on a Zorro II card for the Commodore Amiga 2000, 3000 and 4000. It is software-compatible with M. Boehmer’s ICY board. The main difference from the original ICY card is that here the PCF8584 I2C controller chip connects to the Amiga bus indirectly. As a result, this works around occasional misconfiguration of the PCF8584 bus protocol and timing issues.

The CPLD logic builds on the code for the A3000 daughterboard by Matthias Heinrichs, with some changes and additions so that it works on a separate Zorro card. Likewise, the KiCad footprint for the Zorro slot comes from Lukas Hartmann’s VA2000 project.

Features

While the main purpose of this board is to provide an I2C controller, it has some optional on-board extras:

  • PWM fan controller that helps you find a good balance between noise and cooling. It is compatible with the Fanny card, and you can configure it with the provided FannyCtl utility (FannyCtl manual).
  • Temperature/voltage monitor based on the LTC2990. Because its configuration matches the a1k.org ICYv2 card and Matze’s A3000DB, several utilities support it out of the box, e.g. simplesensors or Sensei.

Support

You can find further useful information in two threads on the a1k.org forum (first a1k.org thread, second a1k.org thread). The forum is in German, but English speakers are very welcome. In addition, you will find more information in the official project repository.
